Andy Powers, Taylor CEO, and myself picked out the wood from the best of the best in the wood library at Taylor Guitars. Each piece was hand selected and brought together to build this masterpiece. We first scoped out which tone woods would bring about an amazing tone while aesthetically building a work of art.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eAndy mentioned he had a small supply of Sassafras, maybe enough for two guitars. The wood is somewhat scarce due to the size of the trees. So we picked out the back and sides from the small pile. All the pieces were quite nice, obviously. Next we focused on the top and found a gorgeous slab of Western Red Cedar for the top. The Red Cedar really creates a nice contrast with the Sassafras. After looking through so many slabs of Ebony for the fingerboard, Andy found one he thought would be perfect for the guitar. It has really unique striping. As for the mahogany neck, we didn't pick this out because that wood was in another facility, however I pleasantly surprised. The wood that was chosen was highly figured Mahogany which is an upgrade. I've never seen a Taylor neck this nice or this unique.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eMany other special appointments were chosen to really make this guitar special. First, we chose Rosewood binding that would make the top, sides and back really standout. When combining the 3-ring Rosewood rosette, the contrast is striking. I chose to add the Rosewood headstock with matching truss rod cover as well.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eA major upgrade was the choice of the Celtic inlays. I will tell you this is quite an expensive upgrade however it makes the guitar truly one of a kind. The Celtic inlays are not something you see all the time on a Taylor due to cost. They stand out so well and add the right amount mystique to the guitar.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eFrom there I had to make a choice between the Grand Auditorium or Grand Concert. I could have actually built a Grand Pacific but this was one of two I was having built and I was building a Grand Pacific for the other guitar. I wanted Andy's opinion. This gentleman knows more about these guitars than I ever will. He just has this knack for knowing what works and what doesn't. He highly suggested I build a Grand Concert. With the wood we chose it would sound amazing for fingerpicking. I have to say after receiving it and testing the guitar, he was right.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThis custom Grand Concert delivers an enchanting tone so smooth and articulate. The neck is very comfortable to play, as most Taylor's are anyway. Andy Powers, Taylor CEO, and myself picked out the wood from the best of the best in the wood library at Taylor Guitars. Each piece was hand selected and brought together to build this masterpiece. We first scoped out which tone woods would bring about an amazing tone while aesthetically building a work of art.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eAndy mentioned he had a small supply of Sassafras, maybe enough for two guitars. The wood is somewhat scarce due to the size of the trees. So we picked out the back and sides from the small pile. All the pieces were quite nice, obviously. Next we focused on the top and found a gorgeous slab of Western Red Cedar for the top. The Red Cedar really creates a nice contrast with the Sassafras. After looking through so many slabs of Ebony for the fingerboard, Andy found one he thought would be perfect for the guitar. It has really unique striping. As for the mahogany neck, we didn't pick this out because that wood was in another facility, however I pleasantly surprised. The wood that was chosen was highly figured Mahogany which is an upgrade. I've never seen a Taylor neck this nice or this unique.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eMany other special appointments were chosen to really make this guitar special. First, we chose Rosewood binding that would make the top, sides and back really standout. When combining the 3-ring Rosewood rosette, the contrast is striking. I chose to add the Rosewood headstock with matching truss rod cover as well.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eA major upgrade was the choice of the Celtic inlays. I will tell you this is quite an expensive upgrade however it makes the guitar truly one of a kind. The Celtic inlays are not something you see all the time on a Taylor due to cost. They stand out so well and add the right amount mystique to the guitar.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eFrom there I had to make a choice between the Grand Auditorium or Grand Concert. I could have actually built a Grand Pacific but this was one of two I was having built and I was building a Grand Pacific for the other guitar. I wanted Andy's opinion. This gentleman knows more about these guitars than I ever will. He just has this knack for knowing what works and what doesn't. He highly suggested I build a Grand Concert. With the wood we chose it would sound amazing for fingerpicking. I have to say after receiving it and testing the guitar, he was right.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThis custom Grand Concert delivers an enchanting tone so smooth and articulate. The neck is very comfortable to play, as most Taylor's are anyway. This guitar is a great choice for fingerpickers for sure, however it's an all around great guitar regardless of what music you play.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eI want to say thank you to Andy Powers for helping me to build this guitar.
